Offered for sale here is a vintage Sears, Roebuck and Company / Ted Williams brand two-gallon capacity water jug, or cooler. This insulated jug has a height of approximately eleven inches and a diameter of approximately ten inches. Although its body consists of multiple layers of heavy-duty plastic, its handle consists of sturdy aluminum, a feature that does not appear on coolers of more recent production. Although the exact date of manufacture is not available, I estimate this product was manufactured and initially sold during the 1970s.
Included in the sale of this particular specimen is the original owner's pamphlet with which this item was initially sold. Consisting of sturdy paper, this folded card measures approximately 3.125 inches x 4.0 inches. Rich in nostalgia, this promotional pamphlet provides further details regarding the baseball legend's involvement with this popular line of sports products from Sears and lists some other related selections.
The accompanying photographs show several views of the actual items offered here. (I can email other views upon your request.) Despite its rather advanced age, this particular cooler remains in excellent condition. The body of the jug remains totally free from any dents, cracks, splits, punctures and other damages. Although the bottom bears some slight scratches from resting on some rough surfaces over the years, the rest of the body remains totally free from any noticeable scratches. The white plastic upper body of the jug bears a small black mark on either side where the moveable metal handle has rubbed against it over the years. Otherwise, the jug is totally free from any noticeable stains. The interior of the jug is very clean and therefore still suitable for storing water. The spigot remains firmly attached. The built-in plastic cup remains present and clean. It is totally free from any cracks, splits, chips and other damages.
Likewise, the owner's pamphlet remains totally free from any stains, marks, discoloration, rips, tears, cuts, splits and other damages. It essentially remains in its original condition, despite its rather advanced age.
This superb Sears Ted Williams water cooler should provide many more years of enjoyable, dependable service. Meanwhile, presented in combination with its original, remarkably well-preserved owner's pamphlet, this specimen should continue to establish its reputation as a worthwhile collectible.
