The shift supervisor is responsible for managing and controlling the complete day to day operation an 8-12 hour shift basis. This includes, but is not limited to: Press, Platemaking, Platemounting, Ink Blending, Slitter, Converting, and Laminating Departments.
Monitor quality checks so all products meet or exceed customer requirements. Instill a clear understanding and appreciation of teamwork to meet company goals as they relate to quality. Special involvement in quality meetings and inform customers of corrective action taken to prevent recurring quality issues.
Interpret safety policy and maintain premises and equipment in accordance with safety standards and principles of good housekeeping. Investigate accidents and determine corrective action. Train associates in safe work procedures and enforce safety rules, conduct safety audits and inspections.
Control and monitor waste whether it be waste material or time. Take corrective action to eliminate all excess waste in the operation. Verify waste daily.
Meet or exceed standards of performance for all equipment and personnel. Communicate, manage and control productivity at an acceptable level to meet production requirements for all manufacturing departments.
Responsible for training and evaluation of new hires and existing personnel who acquire new positions. Help attain a positive working atmosphere involving Crew Leaders, Associates and Staff Personnel. Assist in developing and maintaining a team concept.
Insure that all AIB housekeeping and cleanliness standards are being maintained in all departments.
Monitor quality and quantity of materials and supplies. Make sure any and all supplies are in house and at the area where needed. Works with purchasing to ensure supplies are ordered and received on a timely basis to meet or exceed customer expectations.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Working knowledge of the flexible packaging process as it relates to printing, laminating, converting and slitting.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Understands principles and practices of quality management.
Works cooperatively with others. Understands team concept and promotes a team environment.
Trains all associates to reach maximum levels of production.
Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve for printing, mounting, laminating, slitting and converting.
Education: High School Diploma/GED
Experience: 10 years in a flexible packaging industry or five years in line manufacturing supervision.
